Before the Games Begin, Magical Moments in France:

A Mid-Season Retrospective

Dear Cherished Travelers & Friends,

As we find ourselves midway through our tour season in France, it’s time to reflect on the adventures, laughter, and unforgettable moments we’ve shared with new and returning guests in the picturesque regions of Provence, the Loire Valley, Bordeaux, and Normandy. Since we kicked off the 2024 season in early May, we have been on a whirlwind journey of fun and adventure, living unforgettable experiences that have left guests enchanted by the beauty and diversity of my beloved, adopted country of France.

In the majestic Loire Valley, we delved into the racy history of the magnificent castles that dot the landscape like jewels of a crown. As we wandered through the opulent halls of Castles of Chambord, Blois, Chenonceau, and Amboise, we strolled through the steamier side of history, bringing stories of kings, queens, favorites, and royal court intrigues and obsessions to life. While painting a vivid picture of France’s rich past, we indulged in fabulous food and wine with my local French friends at their homes, wineries, and professional kitchens while sharing laughter.

In sun-kissed Provence, where the vibrant artisan markets and the influence of artists like Van Gogh and Cézanne captivate the senses, we embarked on scenic walks through colorful landscapes and quaint villages. From savoring the flavors of local delicacies at bustling markets to exploring the charming villages that inspired countless masterpieces, Provence welcomed us with open arms and left an indelible mark on our hearts. At the same time, we nourished our souls, savoring gourmet cuisine in magical settings.

In Bordeaux, we immersed ourselves in the perfect blend of culture and wine, discovering the secrets of the region’s world-renowned vineyards and indulging in exquisite tastings that elevated our appreciation for the art of winemaking. With the beauty of Bordeaux’s architecture, nature’s bounty in Arcachon, and the history of Saint Emilion imprinted in our hearts, our time together left a mark of warmth, making our experience truly unforgettable.

As we commemorated the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, we paid homage to the brave souls who fought for freedom along the Norman coast. The occasion’s solemnity poignantly reminded us of the sacrifices made for liberty, and we left with a deep sense of gratitude and respect for those who came before us.

We were privileged to share exclusive experiences with our new and returning guests at our French friends’ homes, workshops, and kitchens. These unique opportunities forged connections that transcended borders and enriched guests’  understanding of this beautiful country. As we continue to celebrate our 30th anniversary of leading small group tours and sharing our passion for France, we are grateful for the countless memories and friendships we’ve forged and continue to nurture.
