One of our most favorite recommendations to our tour guests when they are joining us for one of our small group tours in Provence, Bordeaux wine country, the Loire Valley or Champagne, is to take time to discover Paris. Paris is not just one of the most romantic cities in Europe and most certainly the world, but is also one of the most historically rich, visually appealing and photogenic. As part of a value added service to our tour programs, we provide our registered tour guests with a “pre- and/or post- tour Paris extended stay package” on request. As Americans living in the country, we are excited to be able to visit Paris regularly in order to provide our tour guests with new and refreshing ideas to discover the city, some of the best hotel recommendations, restaurant suggestions and various touring options — be it half-day walking tours or full day organized driving tours — in one comprehensive package. We are continually updating our pre- and/or post- tour Paris extended stay package to keep the ideas fresh and to be able to introduce new places, activities and shops worth the detour to guests.
As hotel recommendations are probably the most sought after information included in our pre- and/or post- tour Paris extended stay package, we are frequenting many hotels in Paris throughout the year, staying over one night, sometimes several nights to get a feel for the “quartier” (local neighborhood), to determine convenience of access to historical sites, museums and services, to test hotel services (concierge, on-site assistance, wifi dependability and more), rate sleep quality, the bedding and in-room experience in general, judge amenities and get a feeling for the hotel’s customer service team. We have very high standards and tough criteria, and feel privileged to be able to share our hotel suggestions with guests, and help make selecting a Paris hotel in this gorgeous city a little less daunting.
After visiting and re-visiting a few of our favorite right bank hotels, this month we are featuring one of our Favorite Hotel Selections in all of Paris…Hotel Therese…
HOTEL THERESE

Getting to the Hotel
- Quickest access to the hotel from the Gare de Montparnasse rail station is BUS 95 — get off at Pyramides. Travel time is about 20 minutes and the scenery is worth the ride, as you pass by many of the left bank high points, cross the Seine with its spectacular views and pass by the Louvre.
- Quickest access from the Gare de Lyon rail station is metro line M14 (get off at Pyramides). Travel time is about 12 minutes.
Hotel Room Quality — Rooms are typical size for Paris, meaning small, but the layout is very functional and well thought out. There are ample electrical outlets for charging telephones, camera batteries, ipads and other electronics simultaneously. Rooms are equipped with a safe and minibar. The minibar refrigerator is large enough to also store additional personally purchased beverages. Bathrooms are equipped with luxury bath amenities and hair dryer. Both bed and bath linens are high quality. In general, rooms are clean and smell nice.
Hotel Services and Perks — The hotel has two large sitting rooms with comfy sofas and coffee tables at the reception area and hotel entry that we find to be very appealing and welcoming to enjoy an afternoon tea, a glass of wine in the evening or just enjoy some social time with your travel mates. From 4-6 pm every day the hotel offers a complimentary tea and coffee bar service featuring home made cakes and pastries available for guests to enjoy at leisure. In the evening, a wine and cocktail service is available to guests in the sitting area and the prices are very reasonable.
The Breakfast — As is typical in many boutique style, Parisian hotels, breakfast is in the cellar…the hotel’s breakfast area is very spacious and well ventilated with decor again creating a very welcoming and appealing place to enjoy traditional French breakfast goodies. The breakfast is buffet style with a professional wait staff serving hot beverages such as a selection of frshly brewed coffees, teas and hot chocolate. Service is with a smile and for 15 euros, the breakfast selection is a good value. For travelers in need of a heartier breakfast, the buffet includes freshly made scrambled eggs and sausages.
Overall customer service — Service with a smile and no question or request is too much. Staff speaks several languages and is very helpful with providing restaurant recommendations, instructions on getting around the city, transfer services to/from the hotel and rail stations and/or airport.
What makes this hotel stand out as special in our eyes? In addition to the complimentary afternoon tea service, Hotel Therese offers its very own hotel APP that every guest can download to their portable electronic device and use both online/offline in the hotel and online/offline while out and about in the city throughout the day. The APP includes a Paris city map that can be used offline no matter where you are in the city, names and addresses of local shopping venues, as well as provides daily event schedules and “what’s happening today in Paris” details with addresses and other useful information to be able to make the most of your visit.
What’s within walking distance? The hotel is centrally located to truly be able to enjoy the city on foot. It’s a short walk from the Opera Garnier, Starbucks, Galeries Lafayette, Printemps, Eglise Madeleine, rue St. Honore shopping street, the Seine River, Louvre Museum, lots of fabulous restaurants, brasseries and cafes. For the walking lover, enjoy a very scenic walk from the hotel to the Champs-Elysees and then across the river to the Eiffel Tower.
